Point Mugu Airshow

Some boys like trains, Clay loves 'hairpanes' and 'helicopters' so we thought what could he like more than an airshow! Luckily there are two in the month of August and thankfully it has been unseasonable cool.

Our little aviator wore his sunglasses most of the day, most likely because Dada had a cool pair on too.

Seated inside one of those huge C-1whatevers...
When we first arrived there was a plane about the size of this one demonstrating water dropping. It was really cool to see. Later that day we went to a barbecue at a friend's house and coincidentally the pilot of that very plane was there! He is a commercial pilot for American and does the airshows for fun on the side.  The other interesting this about the photo below is the small plane in the background. If you look closely there's a person standing on the wings, a real 'wing-walker'.
And the MOST exciting part of the day -- the helicopter. This particular one goes out with Navy ships and aircraft carries and looks for enemy submarines. The captain is the woman sitting in the other seat. Clay got to hold the stick and push all the buttons.

Here he is in the back of the helicopter playing with the controls. After being in there for about 20 minutes, it was a huge scene trying to get him out. He could have spent the night in there and been totally happy.
